Baby Gramps is a phenomenal performer- a great guitarist with a deceptively accomplished gift as a vocalist. He transcends any stylistic limitations of his ostensible genre, launching from folksy rags into polyrhythmic hammering, slippery time changes and harmonic jags, zig-zagging accents, and spooky, mysterious humor. Shoehorn has been a sideman with Gramps at the Laurelthirst the first Friday nearly every month since 2000. They are often joined by other players, and it is never the same thing twice.
