Mr. Shoehorn

Downtown Library -Eugene, 100 West 10th Ave, Eugene, OR

Bring the whole family for Shoehorn's unique one-man show. The library complied the following blurb: Kids, families, and teens: learn to make whole-body music with visiting artist Michael “Shoehorn” Conley. Shoehorn calls himself a “tappercussionist”: he tap dances and plays saxophone at the same time! And improvises with other wind and percussion instruments, too.

A uniquely entertaining performer and an internationally recognized tap soloist, Shoehorn has been featured in the Emmy-nominated PBS-TV documentary JUBA: Masters of Tap & Percussive Dance and at many arts festivals. He has performed and taught in more than 30 countries and released five CDs. Shoehorn started as a street performer in New Orleans and gained experience jamming with performers from blues bands to circus artists, and in many genres, including rock, jazz, and world music. The Boston Globe called him "miraculous . . . a dance company and orchestra in one."
